Spotlight on...Jocelyn

I sat down with the darling Jocelyn, a junior at UW majoring in Drama and Communications, to ask her a few questions about her experience so far.

Jocelyn, do you have a favorite class?

I really like Lecoq. I'm really not very strong at it. I have a huge disconnect between mah brain and mah body and any opportunity to explore that relationship, as painful as it is at times, is really good.

So you may have just answered this, but is there anything that has been particularly challenging for you?

Lecoq has been challenging. But the one thing, the overall thing that applies to all of these classes is the concept of... "honest bigness," as eloquent as that sounds. And it's funny because, I've felt myself over the past few years retreat back into this little shell, like "I'm just going to act here." And I forget that I'm playing. But it can't be a huge facade. These classes are all about creating a solid foundation and then just heightening it.

And Jason calls you out, man, if he sees that you're being fake.

Yeah! And it's great! It's such a basic skill you need for acting. But I mean, again, revisiting those foundations, everyone needs to do it.

How is your French?

AWFUL! Awful. I know just a grab bag of words, none of which really help me. Like "pamplemousse." Grapefruit. I don't even like grapefruit.
