Besides showing you my pretty dress and belly wounds, I think I've gotten a bit behind in my overall narrative of what's been happening in the program. I'll blame my post-birthday hangover, which was wretched.
What are we doing? We use one day of classes to devise short...skits. We call them 'happenings' or 'pieces.' We practice a few times, set it to music, we receive lots of wonderfully wacky notes from our teachers: "It's perfect! Next time, make better perfect!" And then we spend the following day filming everything we've made thus far. Rinse, repeat.
For example, we've filmed...
Miles of string + bamboo poles + random household objects = Theatre of Objects, a creepy, animated still life project
Wind ensemble out of old wine bottles = creative recycling
Scenes for the show that I'm in with Laurie and Kate "Ithaca I'll Never See." More on that laters.
In other parts of life, LAURIE GOT SICK and missed a few days of class.
She's better now, but still has the remnants of a bad sore throat and is now nursing a crazy infection in her little toe. Yeah...we're basically broken.
(76 stairs up to my room) x (5-7 times) = 450ish stairs every day
And that's just going up! Can you say Half Marathon cross training?
In summary, here we are, gearing up for our last week of class. We're tired and dirty and sweaty, but mostly we are in good spirits, good health, and there's plenty of wine to help us decompress in the evenings. Yeehaw!
