Now introducing a series of mini-interviews! You'll get a chance to meet some of the students and I'll get a chance to use some of the candids that haven't made it to the blog yet. Win win.
First on the chopping block is the oh-so-lovely Faith Middleton!
How has this experience changed the way you view American theatre?
God, I don’t want to offend anyone, but it almost makes me feel like we oversimplify things by relying on text so much. I’m trying to understand, in American theatre, why we rely on text so much, and how we can avoid it.
Andjez, Theresa, and Andrea [our teachers] have showed us all these paintings during the afternoon sessions being like “We’re going to make this painting into a performance!” Then we analyzed the meatball, and well, we had some fairly heavy stuff in that analysis. Sometimes there’s more depth without words.
What did you pack too much of?
I packed 7 pairs of tights. And I never wear tights. I have no idea why, but when I was packing I told my Mom I wanted to bring a pair of tights and then she presented me with a million of them.
What part of your body currently hurts the most?
Honestly, Lecoq is kicking my ass and I think it’s probably kicking everyone’s. My back’s been really sore for a long time. We started a couple massage chains this weekend but I think we kind of need to get some bigger ones going on. So yeah.
