Sleep is for LOSERS

Wow. I just finished my first day in Europe and it feels like I've been awake for days. Hmm...actually I have basically been awake for days. My sleep deprivation will make this post interesting, to be sure.

So I got 2 hours of sleep in a hostel bunk bed and then a small group of us went to get dinner. I had what was quite possibly the BEST steak I have ever eaten in my life at "Le Saint Medard Cafe."

In this photo, everyone suddenly had something to explain to poor Colleen at the other end of the table. She was asking about the Seine...or something.

We tried to meet up with other people in our group who said they'd be partying till the wee hours of the morning in a park somewhere past Notre Dame. We walked and walked and walked and never found them.

BUT...we did get a nice chance to look at the Seine.

Complete with the blinding lights of passing tour boats.

And we got to see up close all of the crazy dancing that happens near the water at night! So wonderful. Parisians know how to relax with their friends better than anyone else, methinks. It's legal to just chill out by the river with a few bottles of wine, participate in some public dancing and everybody's happy! I may never be content to just play beer pong again...
